We have some extremely serious news right now. I I literally just woke up. My hair is not even done. But two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota have been shot in what appears to be a targeted assassination this morning in the Brooklyn Park area. John Hoffman, Senator, uh, and Melissa Hortman, a representative in Minnesota along with their spouses, have been shot overnight in the Brooklyn Park area by a suspect who is impersonating a police officer, according to Fox 9 News. Both are in quote grave condition this morning, according to ABC News. Here here is what uh we know right now.
Both lawmakers represent districts in the northern Twin City suburbs. Hortman from Brooklyn Park, District 34B and Hoffman from Champlain uh Senate District 34. Brooklyn Park Police have issued a warning. Do not approach the door unless two officers approach together. Call 911 to verify officer identity first. Governor Tim Walls of Minnesota has officially activated the state emergency operations center, pledging full state support to law enforcement in both Brooklyn Park and Champlain. He said the situation is being closely monitored and he will provide updates throughout the morning. Folks, this is a very serious situation.
This appears to be a targeted assassination of two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota. one person, one suspect according to preliminary uh reports from Fox 9 is under arrest while the other suspect is not um still out. Uh as we saw yesterday, Florida Sheriff from Revard County said, quote, “We will kill you if protests turn violent.” That is a direct quote from the sheriff in Revard County, Florida. Right now, there are scheduled to be over 1,900 protests nationwide, really worldwide, in honor of No King’s Day. It’s Donald Trump’s birthday. It’s Flag Day. It’s also the day of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, which there will be a massive military parade here in Washington DC.
I was actually originally going to go and cover it, but I don’t necessarily feel fully safe in doing so anymore. So, I probably will not be doing that. And instead, we’ll be focusing my efforts on the No Kings Day protests, and we’ll be providing you coverage of that throughout the day. Millions of people, according to organizers, are expected to come out and protest the Trump administration. Senate Armed Services Committee, speaking of the military parade, Roger Wicker and many Republicans are now expressing discomfort with Donald Trump’s planned military parade. Uh most Republican senators surveyed by CNN said they’re not going to attend, citing prior commitments.
Roger Marshall from Kansas is one of the few who is going to go, but people are just not interested in this parade. They don’t want to go. uh they think it’s a waste of fiscal money. Um this is the Trump administration uh that it it’s just very bad. Um it’s just very bad uh overall. Um yeah, around 60 veterans and military family were arrested outside the US capital after breaching a police protest, a police barrier during a planned sit in protest against Trump’s deployment of the National Guard overnight.
The capital police reported the group had initially demonstrated peacefully at the Supreme Court before approaching the capital steps, prompting officers to set up a perimeter. When it comes to Israel and Iran, Iran has launched a wave of missiles towards Israel early this morning following a night of mutual attacks. They’ve been shooting at each other. The conflict intensified after Israel’s unprecedented strike on Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing senior Iranian leaders.
Israeli report Israeli authorities have reported three deaths and dozens injured while Iran has reported 78 dead and 320 wounded. Israel’s defense minister warned Thyrron quote will pay a heavy price if attacks continue. And Netanyahu urged Iranians to quote stand up and let your voices heard. They want to topple the Iranian regime. California Governor Gavin Newsome accused the Trump administration of pulling National Guard troops from fentanyl interdiction efforts at the US Mexico border. Uh he said now they’re just twiddling their th their thumbs in Los Angeles. And Donald Trump is now shifting uh immigration enforcement. He will no longer be doing immigration enforcement at farms, hotels, and restaurants. So, he’s stopping that likely because his donors got upset at him. That’s all the news right now.
