A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at a 67 story residential skyscraper in Dubai Marina, Marina Pinnacle, also known as Tigertar. The blaze triggered a large-scale emergency response with over 3,800 residents safely evacuated in a race against time. According to authorities, there were no injuries or casualties. The way civil defense teams battled the flames for six straight hours, successfully rescuing all 3,820 occupants from 764 apartments.
The Dubai media office confirmed that the evacuation was completed without incident and officials are now working with the building’s developer to provide temporary housing for those displaced. This isn’t the first time in Marina Pinnacle. A similar incident occurred in 2015 and it’s located near the torch, another highrise that caught fire twice in recent years. While the operation was widely praised as some residents raised concerns, many said that there was no fire alarm or it failed to go off, leaving them unaware until neighbors banged on doors or they noticed fire trucks outside.
The fire caught many offguard as they were asleep. Dramatic visuals showed people rushing through smoke fil corridors, clutching children and pets. However, despite the chaos, firefighters ensured that everyone was brought out safely. No lives were lost thanks to swift coordination by Dubai’s emergency teams.
